Toyota Repair: egr valve code 401 insufficient air flow, toyota solara, modulator valve

Question
I think the code was 410 or 401 but it read egr valve insufficent air flow..does this have to be replaced or just cleaned it is a 2000 toyota solara..150,000 highway miles approx. what should I do ? I have been told numerous things...HELP ME OUT !!!  thanks

Answer
Since this is a common trouble code for both camry and solara four cylinder engines I will base my answer on that assumption, the most common cause for this code is that the EGR modulator valve is defective, it's located on a bracket on the EGR valve and has some vacuum hoses attached to it, try replacing it to solve this problem, it's not expensive, about $65, if this happens to be a
V-6 engine let me know.
