Toyota Repair: 88 Toyota Celica GT: Conv Top Wont Go Down, override switch, toyota celica

Question
Hello. I just purchased a 88 Celica GT conv 133k miles. The top wont go down. This is what I know. The lady I bought it from said one day she could not get the top to go down from the switch. Her husband then worked on it and added hydrolic fluid ( I have no idea where, but can find out) and then it worked again. Now she sells it to me after a year or so later and it wont go down again.  Is it possible that all it needs is hydrolic fluid? Can you also direct me to any other possible reasons why the top wont go down? When i try the auto top switch i can hear a little clicking around the top motor. We tried to get it down manually but it seemed stuck. If the automatic top switch wont work, should I be able to force it manually without breaking anything?

Thanks A ton

Paul

Answer
If it needs haydraulic fluid again there must be a leak in the system, probably at one of the operating cylinders, these convertible tops were all installed here in the US,
depending on where you live, you can find out where it was installed by checking for a label on the door jamb, we do not repair these tops at the dealer, they are sublet to the installer.
In the trunk there is an override switch that lets you operate the top manually.
