Toyota Repair: I got an email to the following..., best guess, switch problem

Question
I got an email to the following questions, but there is no reply or link to the answer. Therefore, I'm resending hte questions again. Thanks!

You mentioned that the window get stucked might caused by wiring.
Q1: Do I have to open the door panel to see if the wiring cause the problem? How can I find out if it's actually the wiring that caused window to malfunction at times?
Q2: The window sometimes work back to normal with a little light tap on the door panel. Would this be the wiring problem?

In the mean time I'm looking for replacement if motor is actually the cause of malfunctioning.
Q3: Is motor same thing as the regulator? I am searching on line for the parts, and search result always come up with regulator.

Q4: The Toyota genuine part is quite expensive to replace. Does spraying the motor to get rid of grease (if there is any) can help solve the problem?

Thanks,
Jennifer

Sometimes when I roll down my driver side window down to a particular point, it get stucked. For the first minute, switches for all four windows would not work. Then, afterwards, the remaining three windows worked, except the driver side window.
I took the car to a mechanic, and he just slightly tap on the driver side panel with another hand on the switch, and all of sudden the window can roll back up again.
What can be cause of this strange behavior? No one seems to find the cause of it.
I have just recently changed to a new switch, and the mechanic is planning to replace another one just to be sure it's not the switch problem.

Does this has to do with motor (which I hope not), or just some contact problem?

Thanks,
Jennifer
Answer -
If they have already replaced the window master switch my best guess is that the window motor is the problem or there is a wiring problem between the motor and the connections inside the left kick panel, sometimes the wires in the harness where it passes from the door to the inside can develop breaks and cause open circuits.

Answer
The most common cause for this is the window motor, the reason that there may only be a listing for the regulator is that on some models the motor and regulator are one piece and not available seperately, so I advise you to check with the seller of the part to specifically state if it is only the regulator or both, the best advice I can give you is to replace both.
