Toyota Repair: 97 TOYOTA 4 RUNNER IAC MOTOR, cat converter, toyota 4 runner

Question
I HAVE (FOR MY SON) A 97 4RUNNER 2 WHEEL DRIVE, 6 CY, AUTOMATIC, 79,000 MILES.  THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON, WHEN I BOUGHT IT, I HAD TO HAVE A CAT CONVERTER PUT ON AND ADDED FLOWMASTER $350, THEN BOTH C02 SENSORS $500, NOW THEY ARE SAYING THE IAC MOTOR IS NOT COMMUNICATING TO ECU AND HAVE TO REPLACE IAC MOTOR, $490. IS IT POSSIBLE TO TRY CLEANING THE IAC MOTOR FIRST BEFORE I REPLACE IT?  THE ENGINE IS NOT STALLING AT ALL, IT STAYS IDLED FAST ALL THE TIME AND THE IDLE IS ADJUSTED ALL THE WAY DOWN.  THANKS

Answer
It doesn't have an IAC motor, it has an idle speed control valve, it can be cleaned although I'm not sure this is what the problem is because normally a malfunctioning ISC valve causes stalling not a fast idle. The idle is not adjustable, it is controlled by the computer and the ISC valve, try having the valve cleaned.
