Toyota Repair: electrical, 1989 toyota camry, toyota camry

Question
2 part question for 1989 Toyota Camry:
Repair history: replaced radiator, water bypass pipe, timing belt since I have owned the car.

1) My Camry died while driving down the road, twisted the positive battery cable and it started, no problem. This same thing has happened several times. When the car stops running all I have to do is twist the positive battery cable and it then will start and run. The battery posts are clean so corrosion is not suspect in my opinion. Also, when this phenomenon occurs, there is no power to the car at all, as the seat belt will not retract and I have no radio or any other power to the car. Are the fusible link or fuses on the positive battery terminal the problem?

2) The rear backup lights are blown. I replaced the bulbs and as soon as I hit the brakes, it blows the bulbs again. When the bulbs blow I am notified about the lights on the dash. Is this a short in the system?

Thanks in advance for your help

Answer
I recommend replacing the terminal, check the connections on the fusible link box and the fuses inside, there is a 30a and a 90amp.
Make sure the correct bulbs are installed in the sockets on the tail lights, some have one contact and some have two, if they are mixed up it will cause problems, there have been some problems with wires seperating inside the trunk wire harness on the left trunk hinge, you will need to open the insulation all the way to where it goes into the passenger compartment and see if any wires are seperated and fix them, another problem could be the tailight failure relay, it is located in the trunk on the left side, remove the carpeting to find it, remove it and take the plastic cover of and check the circuit board for any burned areas, if so, replace the relay.
