Toyota Repair: My 1998 Tacoma 2WD X-Cab Manual..., bushings, transmissions

My 1998 Tacoma 2WD X-Cab Manual Tran. is having trasmission problems. 3rd and 4th gear slips out of place while driving. The dealership said that i have to replace the entire transmission.

Just wanted to hear what the expert thinks about my problem.

There have been some problems with the bushings in the shift tower on these transmissions, before you agree to have the transmission replaced have them check to see if the shifter bushings in the shift tower are not broken or just disintegrated. There may be an internal problem like they said bur I have seen many of these bushings fail and cause this problem so check it first you can save a lot of money if it's the case.
