After we have driven for awhile and then stop in traffic or at a traffic light the car starts to overheat. It started after we changed the antifreeze and flushed the engine. We changed the thermostat and the fan temp switch but it is still overheating. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Do the cooling fans come on?
If it only overheats at idle there is an air flow problem, not enough air going through the radiator, let me know if the fans come on and also what year, model.

We have a 1995 Camry 5SFE with the 4 cyl engine, auto trans and 134,000 miles. We started having this problem after we changed the antifreeze. We notice that the fans come on but shut off before the engine cools down. Sometimes they come on go off then come on again right away. Other times they come on and then go off and don't come on again. This is when the engine heats up. We think there might be an air pocket in the engine that is preventing the temp switch from working properly. If this is possible what is the best way to solve the problem?

Answer
Thank you for the reply, there seems to be air trapped in the engine, this is common after changing the coolant, try doing the following:
Let the engine cool down completely
remove the upper radiator hose at the radiator
pour either water or or antifreeze into the radiator hose, hold it up as much as you can
add the coolant slowly and the air bubbles or air pockets should come out.
let me know if this works.
