Toyota Repair: Cant get out on drivers side., car repair shop, toyota previa

Question
One night it took two or three tries with the key before the driver's side would unlock.  The next day I couldn't get the door to unlock, but after I drove to my destination it worked fine.  After I cancelled my appt. at the car repair shop the door stopped working at all.  I cannot unlock it manually or with the the power door lock.  When I press the power door lock the lock moves halfway and cannot be moved into the unlocked position.
Could this just be an adjustment problem?  Would I need to take off the whole door panel or can I just take of the handle piece?  If the whole panel needs to come off, how could I do this if I can't get the door open?  I have a 92 Toyota Previa.
Thanks

Answer
Hello Pamela, welcome to my expert page.
The most common cause for this would be a door lock actuator problem, some of them are part of the door lock assembly and some are available seperately, the door panel has to be removed, there are some large screws under the armrest, look for any plastic covers that hide screws underneath, the inner door handle has to be removed, other than that the door panel is held on with plastic clips that snap out of the door frame.
