Hi I need to know what mark to use and where to place <line up > the cam on a 1988 corolla s/w 16 valve 1.6 engine

Hello Danny, welcome to my expert page.
There are dots on each of the camshaft pulleys, use the ones on the outer edges, they should line up with lines on the sheet metal cover, please note this very important point, there are dowel pins in the end of the camshafts to locate the pulleys, STANDING IN FRONT OF THE ENGINE, the dowel pin on the left cam points up and the dowel pin on the right cam points down, position the cam gears with both dots up and lined up with the lines on the sheet metal cover behind the gears.
