how do i get the gears unstuck and is there a quick fix or is it in the linkage

Mike, I am inclined to think this might be a clutch/throw-out bearing problem, BUT....start the tractor, let it idle a bit, CHECK the linkage carefully to see if it is bent, then take a rubber mallet and tap the lever AFTER you shut the tractor down...it should go into gear.
