Tractor Repair: Kabota B1550 Charging System, trickle charger, charging system

Question
I'm interested in how to test the dynamo, and what kind of regulator this system uses, and how to test the regulator as well? Thank You!

Answer
A dynamo charging system is a fixed set of coils running inside of a magnet. The faster it spins the more voltage it puts out in the case of your kubota think of it as a trickle charger. At idle it might not put out very much. To test it take a voltage reading on your battery without the engine running. Then start the engine and test it again it should be more than you voltage you had on your battery to start and it should go up with rpm. There is no voltage regulator unless they have so kind of resistors in the harness. This is not really my area of expertise but I would think that they are pretty reliable. If you are having problem's it is probably your battery.

Maybe I should have been more clear and percise in my answer. Your dynamo actually charges in a/c current then it goes to you rectifer which is actually a bunch of diodes that redirect the current until what comes out is dc to charge your chemical reaction battery.  Connection problem are always an issue in any tractor electrical problem. We try to give the simpled answer to help the not so knowledgable people who have problems. If I get to technical it usally goes right over peoples heads and doesn't help.
