Tractor Repair: massey ferguson injector pump removal, massey ferguson 35, gasoline engines

Question
Hi I am a maintenance supervisor and I have worked on cars/gasoline engines alot but hardly no diesel experience especially tractors. I need to pull the injector pump off of a massey ferguson 35 tractor 3cyl eng. there are three bolts in the pump which I already removed and all attached lines and linkage but there seems to be a sprocket keeping the pump from coming out and since I have never pulled one I didn't won't to try and force it or pry on it not knowing if there was something else I needed to loosen. So My question is what's the procedure for taking that pump off? Sorry that's all the info I have on the tractor now until I get back home later tonight.

Answer
Hello Charles,

I looked up the injection pump today in a service manual and found some more info.  If the engine is a Perkins, the pump can be removed the way I stated in my last message.  The access cover to remove the gear is the oil filler according to the book.  But if the engine is a Standard Diesel, it's going to be alot more work.  They have a timing chain and sprockets instead of gears, so the entire front timing cover will have to be removed to get the sprocket off the pump.
                         Take care,
