Triumph Repair: Painting and reassmbly of a 74 TR6, seam sealer, rear fender

Question
Hi
I am in the process of reassembling a TR6. After speaking with  many so called car experts I am somewhat confused as to the best method.Method 1.  paint all panels and body individually and then reassemble using seam sealer.Method 2.reassemble and then paint. My concern is that if I use method 2 there will be paint build up in the rear fender seams where they attach to the back deck and trunk panel. This paint will eventually  crack and allow moisture to seep between the panels hence starting the rust process all over again.Looking forward to your advice.
           Thanks

Answer
Hi Russell,

I have restored several TR-6s and prefer to have all removable panels painted off the car because of what your concern is. Painting everything after assembly may look ok for a short time but it will crack the paint at the seams sooner or later.
