Triumph Repair: 1974 TR6 Replace Differential Seals, bolt flange, oil seals

Question
I am in the process of replacing the differential oil seals which I have never done before. The exploded view picture that I see appears to show that I need to remove the bearing and housing on the inner axle to replace the seal. Is that correct? If so, is the bearing sitting up against a stopping point or do I need to mark where the existing bearing rides on the axle? Do I need to heat the axle to remove the bearing or is it pressed in place.

Answer
Hi Scott,
loosen the large nut on the end of the stub axle first then Remove the four bolts holding the flange to the diff housing and remove the flange and shaft with the bearing and seal as a unit. Then to remove the flange from the stub axle you may need to heat the "U" joint flange a little and knock the shaft out with either a brass or lead mallet so as not to damage the threads. It is on a taper with a key. then you have access to the four bolt flange with the seal.
