Triumph Repair: Spitfire wing to bonnet joint, silicone sealer, mkiv

I am wondering if a sealing compound should be run along the outside of the wing to bonnet joint on a MKIV prior to getting the car resprayed.

Hi Paul,
If you are talking about the joint that has the chrome bead that runs the length of the hood, No I have never seen any shop put any kind of sealer in there. However, it would not be a bad idea if you could find something other than silicone sealer to stop water from collecting in the seam an rusting. You might check with a local body shop for what kind of sealer to use.
