Triumph Repair: Repair Manual, cotter pin, slide spring

Question
Hi Howard!
I have 2 questions.  I just joined the ranks of Triumph Spitfire owners and am  very excited about my recent purchase, a 1976 Spitfire.
Question #1)  What repair manuals do you recommend and/or websites for DIY. and
Question #2)  Any suggestions replacing the throttle cable?

Thanks for any assistance in advance.
Brad

Answer
Hi Brad,
The Bentley manual is in most cases the better manual, next I would say is the Haynes.
You would have to look at web sites to gauge them as which suits your needs the best.
The throttle cable replacement is pretty much self evident when you look at the cotter pin in the spring and slider rod on the carb. Just loosen the lock nut on the housing adjustment and slid the cable out of it's groove. On the pedal end is a slide spring clip to slide back and the cable can then be lifted out of it's slot.
