UK Car Repair: Fuel Injection Pump Timing - Lucas CAV, lucas cav, fuel injection pump

We're currently working on a 1.8 Ford Mondeo and need to check the timing on
the fuel injection pump. The Haynes manual has a different pump to the one in
the car and we need to know what the gauge readings should be for our pump,
which is a Lucas CAV type F18.1TCI.20, DPL 8443B995D.

I read in another post that these are the timing numbers, but what do they mean?

If you attempt to do it without the tool you can kiss that puppy buh-bye!

I have all sorts of these lying around in various states of wanked or puffed. The tool is the most important part of the procedure. The book probably pictured a Bosch pump instead of a CAV of which both are crap and will blow and kill this thing faster than G.W. Bush can lose his train of thought! I suggest that you look into getting a propane injection system for it to reduce the chances of it going lean and screwing something up.
