Volkswagen Repair: vw eurovan, vw eurovan, fan switch

Hi Rocky,
I have a 93 eurovan, The blower fan comes on after I'm driving for about 15min. It goes on and off. I replaced the fan switch but it still does it. It doesn't overheat. Have any idea?

I have only one small idea about this problem, but it just might be the root cause.  There is a fan relay on the same circuit that the fan switch is on.  I say just replace it, especially if the fan goes on, and off when you are on abumpy section of road, the relay will make contact, then lose contact then make contact then lose contact...etc. ad nauseum....the little copper contacts get carbon built up on them ,and lose the ability to hold the spring in the coil tightly enough to make continuous contact...especially after 14 to 15 years of faithful service.  Hope this is it, Verra.  Good luck.  The relays are above the fuses on the drivers' side of the dash.  Up under the kick panel area.
