Answer
Hey there Bob,  Sorry to hear about your problems with your car.
Sorry to take so long to answer your question too.  My computer broke, and I just got back on-line about an hour ago, and have been answering questions as fast as I can.
P0300, is a random misfire code, and P0302 means a misfire at cylinder number 2.
You said in your question to me that you had plugs, and wires(?) replaced.  Is this true?  The shop that did the work for you said they replaced the wires?
There are NO spark plug wires on these engines!  The ignition impulse is fired using "COP," or "coil-on-plug" technology.  Also, there have been several generations of coil since the first ones came out 8 to 10 years ago, and it may just be possible that the coils on your engine are of the old design.
My best recommendation is to contact your local Volkswagen dealer, and see if there any software upgrades for your engine control module...there have been some "cold mis-fire" programming issues that Volkswagen has addressed with updated/upgraded software that feeds the impulses to the ignition coils.  I would highly recommend this as a first step in resolving this issue permanently.  I am a little circumspect about the shop that said they replaced your "wires" too.  Hope this helps, BOB!   If you have a follow up, I'd be happy to find out more for you.  Thanks for your patience.
