Volkswagen Repair: 1999 Passat GLX motor turning on and off, oxnard st, emmisions control

I just had my car serviced and had a new breather hose replaced because my previous one was broken. Right before I took it in a motor located somewhere underneath my air filter kept turning on and off, sounded like some type of blower motor. It ran my battery dead.Dealership couldn't find any problems with this but replaced the hose. Next day the motor kept coming and and off, sometimes it would run for 3 seconds other times it would run for 5 minutes. Any idea on what this could be? thank-you

It sounds like you are hearing the secondary air blower coming on and off. It is supposed to do that. It is part of the emmisions control system. It recirculates the unburnt exaust gases in the crank case. If a hose or tube is missing or broken on the secondary air blower, It might cause it to run more. The system must be sealed with no vaccum leaks. You probally need a new battery if it is running down or check your charging system. I am Max's German Car located at 15020 Oxnard st Van Nuys CA 91411.
