Volvo Repair: 82 b21ft cold start issues, fuel pressure regulator, time switches

Question
great deal on car with only 92k original. previous owner experienced starting troubles and had in tank fuel pump replaced, relay, filter. he then allowed someone to put a push button hot wire to cold start injector. now you must press button on and off until car warms up and stays running. have checked all elecs i could access and cleaned everything and grounds. both pumps are working for a bit when key is turned on. have not checked pressure and don't have a meter. before i go buying thermo time switches, relays, air controllers, pumps, etc...any advice. ever hear of this???
thanks, jon

Answer
Jon, yes i have.  Its the fuel pressure regulator or as some call it, the warm up regulator.  I would yank that nasty button out of there. i hate when crappy mechanics do that stuff.  Is may also be a fuel distributor issue or injector seals.  Is this a 2-door?  If it is, you may just want to go through the whole car and do a restoration.   Roger
