Volvo Repair: 2003 S60 Starting issue, first few days, good shape

Question
Just bought a 2003 S60 base model. 60,000 miles. Was starting fine the first few days. This morning it was -5 degrees F and the car would not start. Just a click when I turned the key. Battery is in good shape. Finally I identified that the 25A starter fuse was blown. Any ideas on why this happened? It has been my experience that a fuse blows because of a problem elsewhere. Is my starter going bad?

Also, there does not seem to be any published service manuals for the newer Volvos. Is this true? Where do I get service instructions?

Thanks very much for any advice you can give.

John

Answer
John, it may be a starter issue but a few tests would have to be performed.  If you changed the fuse and it seems okay for now, keep your eye on it.  If it happens again, then have a Volvo shop take a look.  60,000 is considered a major service.  Did they do it before you bought it?  The best place to get the manuals is the dealer parts dept.  Hope this helped.  Roger
