Volvo Repair: Volvo 850 Engine flooding, coolant temperature sensor, fuel pressure regulator

Question
Engine will not start from cold although it turns over.  This follows engine running for two or three seconds before stopping, and then long wait before attempting to start again.

Has occurred on previous occasions when car has been moved two or three feet and then turned off (on this occasion battery went flat following first running so could not be started again immediately).  Automobile Association mechanics have diagnosed as a known 850 problem with engine flooding from short start and then subsequently cold start injector continuing to inject surplus fuel on each attempt to restart.  This appears to be an accurate diagnosis in that solution to starting works -- turning over engine without fuel pump operating.  Problem is that this usually means turning over engine for 30 to 40 minutes with short breaks, on the starter motor before engine will start.  Is there an alternative solution? Is there a means of correcting it so that it does not happen in the first place?

Answer
I WOULD BE LOOKIN AT THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR LEAKING OR A BAD ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR.I HAVE SEEN MORE BAD ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSORS  THAN ANYTHING ELSE.IT SHOULD BE LOOKED AT FOR PROPER DIAGNOSIS,BUT IF I WERE GUESSING I WOULD REPLACE COOLANT SENSOR AND PLUGS.
