Volvo Repair: 1990 Volvo 260, freon, volvo

My air conditining is no longer working & I've been told it can't be fixed because you can't get freon anymore.  Is that true?  Or maybe I just haven't hit on someone who wants to be bothered with it.  Please advise.  Thanks

Joyce, you found someone that doesnt want to be bothered with it.  That refrigerant is called R12 and its still available.  The newer refrigerant is R134 and your car can be retrofitted to the newer system.  Find a real Volvo shop that can handle the repair.  Im assuming you have a 240 because the last 260 was made in 1981.  Roger
