Volvo Repair: 1996 Volvo 850, volvo 850 wagon, fuel system components

Question
I just bought a 1996 Volvo 850 Wagon with about 125,000 miles on it.

It appears to be fine except for one little problem that I have experienced on a couple of occasions.  Sporadically some of the electrical components don't work.  If they aren't going to work they won't work from when I turn the car on.  They have never went out after previously working once I have started the car.  In other words, if I turn on the car and the headlights work, then they will continue to work.  They won't just stop working while the car is running.  However, at times the headlights, turn signals, and door locks have not worked when I started the car.

After turning the car off and re starting everything seems to be OK.

Any ideas?  Sounds like some type of relay or something is going bad, but hasn't went all the way bad yet.
Thanks,

Answer
Hmmm,of course it is much easier to be accurate when I'm there. But here goes with my best guess..Dirty connections..including,battery cables/wiring,fuses or a relay that controls the systems that you mentioned. On some models a failing alternator will cause dashboard lights to light up if a problem occurs.
I doubt that fuel system components is a problem.
Of course you could drive to your fav Volvo service dept. and ask for a diagnosis...One of the problems that exists when you're guessing as what it takes to fix problem is...buying a part that has no effect on the problem...do this 2 or 3 times and you could end up paying over a thousand dollars...and still have the problem.Don't laugh...this happens OFTEN when you drive into your local gas station and say..FIX IT.I recommend that you treat your Volvo service dept. manager to coffee and donuts and kindness. He be more likely to treat you with kindness...You may just want a evaluation and you may also consider seeking out a small repair shop that specializes in Volvo.(My choice)
            Good luck,
