Volvo Repair: Plastic Radiator vs. Copper Radiator, weak spot, radiator

Question
I recently bought a 1989 240 DL and it has 173,000 miles on it. The car has the original radiator and it has a small crack in it and will need to be replaced. I want to replace it with another plastic radiator but everyone tells me to go copper. The price difference is between 100 and 200 dollars and I would rather save the money. Can you tell me your opinion. Thank you.

Hello GNA,  As for me,.. a new plastic rad. is good.The weak spot was lack of re-inforsement at the upper hose outlet.They have since use a copper sleeve that cured that flaw.Replace the t/stat and pressure cap and your on the road again.Thank you and good hunting!  PKD
