Volvo Repair: Electrical, service king collision repair, volvo 850 glt

Question
Hello James, I have a 1993 Volvo 850 GLT. It is in emmaculate condition. I am having problems with my central locking system as well as my security alarm. My driver door was wrecked and repaired by Service King Collision Repair. They did not replace my central locking system when they repaired the door with a after market part, per my insurance company. This has called major damage to my security and locking system. I have no signal lights, no hazard lights, and when I close my driver door my lights blink on and off for about 1 minute. If I allow my vehicle to remain park for over 24 hours without starting, I will have to boost the battery for my car to start. If it stalls on me and refuses to start during the day I can sometimes slam the door and the car will start. I have had Service King revaluate the repair several times and they find no fault. The dealership that I have my car service said the damage was done from the repair.I am at a lost because the dealership wants to charge $1200 to repair whatever damage, but they can not be sure if this will remedy my problem. When the fuse is placed in my signal lights are stuck in the on position. When I remove the fuse they are off, but I then have no hazard or signal lights on my car. This is very frustrating please help. I read that you only assist on car dates starting at 1999, but maybe you can find answers for me. Thank you in advance.

Answer
The shop that did the repairs are liable for the damages if they installed it incorrectly or left pieces out.  Have them contact the dealer tha investigated the problem or have some sort of written estimate from them so that the collision shop can fix it themselves or reimburse you for the dealer fixing it.  They are legally required to fix come backs like that.  It will cost you nothing as well.  They aren't allowed to charge for repairs for their mistakes.  I wish I could give you some idea of whats going on but without seeing it I almost wouldn;t know where to start.  The problem sounds like its coming from the aftermarket alarm system which I have no technical data on.  I'm sorry, but I hope that the collision shop takes care of you like they should.  Hope that helps.

James
