Volvo Repair: Irregular idle and stalling when cold, intake manifold gasket, car spark plugs

Question
I have an 88 740 turbo, 235k miles. The problem I am having is irregular idling and stalling when starting a cold engine and outside temperature is below about 40F. The idle returns to normal after about 5 minutes of driving. Recent work done on car: spark plugs, FI system temp. sensor, timing belt, air filter, intake manifold gasket, fuel pump and fuel filter were all replaced. Also the oil trap was cleaned and all PVC lines inspected. Please advise as what the problem might possibly be. Thank you.

Answer
Sounds like an idle air motor problem.  On the throttle body there will be a motor attached to the side.  Unbolt it and give it a good cleaning with carb cleaner.  While you're at it you may want to clean the trottle plate the same way. (cost <$5)  That should fix the problem.  If not let me know and I can help you try to diagnose the problem.  Let me know what happens.  Hope that helps.
