Volvo Repair: Throttle position sensor, throttle position sensor, mechanic friend

Question
Volvo, 2000, 2.4 turbo, S 70, AWD

The car has started to pulse after its warmed up.  The check engine light has come on.  Twice the car nearly quit but could limp at 30 mph. When this occured, another warning light came on.  I believe it was the electornic throttle senor light.  Pulling off the road and letting it sit for 3-4 min has revitalized it.  A mechanic friend said it was probably the throttle position sensor.  I ordered one tonight.  Is this a repair I could make myself?  Where is the throttle position sensor located?  Is it accessible?

Answer
first, there is no throttle position sensor on your car. you have an electronic throttle. the parts cost is about $550. i do not know if this is your problem, i need to know what codes have been stored/set to evaluate that, but a throttle module going bad isnt uncommon. no, this is not a job you can do yourself. after installation, you will need to install a software package to make the new unit work. this can only be done at the dealer.
