BMW: Rear Squeak, bar bushings, rubber bushings

Question
What is making the noise or squeak sound when I push down on the left rear trunk.  It is coming from behind the left rear wheel.  It bothers me when I hear the noise when go out of my driveway.

My neighbor says it could be the shocks or ball joints.  Would a wore out ball joint cause squeak pushing down on it?

What is your take.

Thank you
Mike

Answer
Mike,
I would need to know what vehicle you have before I can accurately help.
For the most part, squeaks are caused by rubber bushings, as the wear or get dry.  Most BMW's have trailing arms in the rearend, and there aren't any ball joints in the back (That I am aware of).  Ball joints are usually used in the front where the wheel needs to rotate to turn corners.

The trailing arm bushings, sway bar bushings, upper shock mounts are all sources to check.

 Good luck,
 Josh
