BMW: 1997 528i headlights, e39 forum, bmw forums

Dear Josh,
We own a 1997 528i and we replaced our original headlights with hellas- (E39-Euro-left (63128375301)the same onesthe same ones that were on it)- but european differing only in the fact that the turn signal does not have the amber colored lens as do the US cars.  We purchased the set from an individual for about 1/4th of the cost from dealer. We got them replaced pretty darn easily, however, there was no rubber stripping across the top of the new headlights to prevent leaks.  We tried to remove the stripping from the old ones and it ripped.  I went to local BMW dealer and they ordered the piece two different times.  Both times it came in, but it clearly does not fit this vehicle's headlights and the strip across the top isn't rubber or even pliable!  We cannot find ANY that will work. No- it isn't the zeon lighting (i think that is spelled right?) Do you know of anything that we can use for it? Or do you have any suggestions? Anything would be appreciated..

 I'm not an expert on the 5-series, so I'm not going to attempt to tell you something I dont know.
