BMW: 1992 325ic M-Technic, wheel bearings, generation cars

Question
Hello Manu,
Thank you for your response, that will certainly help!  I had another question for you, and it may sound like a dumb question, but a 95'M3...what does the "M" refer to?  Is it the M-technic? Would my car be a 92 M3? Thank you so much!

Hello,
I recently bought a '92 325ic M-Technic. It only has 100,000 miles and it is in BEAUTIFUL condition.  I was wondering if you knew of any common problems that I may experience with this car.  I've done a little research, and found only good things about it, but I was just wondering if you knew of anything that I may have missed.  Also, because these cars are pretty rare, there is no pricing section on KBB, so I was wondering if you would have any idea of the value of the car?
Thanks for your help!

It is true the car is a rare find expecially in the US... However is still E36 and I would expect it to share many of the same symptoms the E36 generation cars have in common. Also having 100k miles and being from 1992 the car has had its share of ware so I would inspect and or replace the following.

Waterpump (factory has weak plastic impellers)
Ac Auxilary fan (the resistor usually goes out on these)
02 sensor(will usually give a check engine light)
Wheel bearings(you'll hear a roaring noise while driving)
e-brake shoes(your ebrake wont hold, even when tightened)
Power steering(stiff steering wheel)

Also I would check all fluids as with any newly purchased car.

I would compare the value of your car with a KBB equivalent of a 1995 M3 with 150K miles. Hope that helps.

Manu

Answer
The M series of BMW's have a modified Motor (about 50hp faster) and a bunch of upgrades to the interior, exterior, and suspension... the first year the E36 modle M3 were produced in the united states was 1995 however in europe they were manufactured from 1992.  If you can send me some pictures of your car... inside and out... motor etc. i could tell you exactly what it is... my email is redline4jc@yahoo.com thanks
