Bob, can you be a bit more specific, make model and year? Which engine 3.1, 3.8?

Thanks

Bob

From the research I've done, I've been able to narrow it down to 2 possibilities. One being that it may be the oxygen sensor, that is a strong possibility, however, i believe it's actually something that is overlooked, even by people I work with.

I believe it to be the MAF sensor array. This is the black box, up where the coils are. It has a lot of tiny hoses running around it. You will see a blue or black plug going into it with several wires.

I'd like you to check the hoses on the MAF sensor. I looked into our databank and trouble shooting records to find out that a broken or split hose will give that code. Look carefully at the elbows and where they connect onto the engine and MAF sensor. If any of these tiny hoses are broken or split, they will lose vacuum and will give the code you are asking about.

If you do NOT find anything wrong with this system, then I would suggest an oxygen sensor. That particular code means that your engine is running with too lean of fuel to air while it is not up to operating temperature. That's why it goes out after you restart. MAF and oxygen sensors are the 2 systems that control air to gas ratio.

Let me know what your results are so I can make a record of it in my service log incase somebody else needs help with this particular code. I appreciate your help Bob!

Answer
Bob, I'm sorry that you weren'y able to find the MAF, it is there but abviously much better hidden than I thought. Everycar has one, or it wouldn't run. I believe it to be the O2 sensor at this time, the reason for the computer to find 1 bank to lean is because there is one 1 bank. Corvettes, Roadmasters and others with the V8 have 2
