Cadillac: ENGINE MISS, electric solenoid, foot on the gas

Question
1994 ELDORADO 4.6 LITER NORTHSTAR

CAR HAS A BAD ENGINE MISS AT 40 TO 45 MPH. CAR IDLES VERY SMOOTH. ACCELERATES VERY SMOOTH. RUNS 50 AND ABOVE MPH JUST FINE. HAS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON.

HAD ENJECTORS PROFESSIONALLY CLEANED. REPLACED PLUGS, PLUG WIRES AND COILS.

CAN NOT GET RIDE OF THIS MISS.

A TECH AT THE CADDY DEALERSHIP SAID IT IS PROBABLY THE MAP SENSOR.

YOUR IDEAS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Answer
Sounds more like a transmission over drive problem.

the over drive is applied at between 40 and 45 mph via an electric solenoid and if this solenoid is not working correctly it will cause the over drive to constantly apply and release making it seem like a miss.

Try this while your driving the vehicle:

As soon as you feel this MISS, maintain your speed with your right foot on the gas pedal and using your left foot slowly apply the brake pedal just enough to illuminate your stop lights and see if your miss goes away.

It is VERY IMPORTANT that you maibtain your speed with your right foot on the gas while slightly applying the brakes.
