1993 Cadillac Seville, 4.9. Car will not crank.
First, replaced battery, wouldn't start, replaced
started, wouldn't start. Was told the air conditioner compressor was locked up. Replaced compressor. (is not plugged in.) Sometimes it acts as though the battery is dead. At times you can turn the switch several times and it will start the engine. It may start several times, then won't start. At times you can turn the key and see the panel lights, turn key more everything goes black car doesn't start. Any suggestions?
thanks,

Answer -
You stated: turn key more everything goes black car doesn't start.   WHAT ?.

If your ignition key has a chip on the key it is possible that the chip is starting to fail which can only be tested by your Cadillac dealer.
The motor turns a little, as thought the battery is dead.It is a new battery that has been tested.
Would the key chip cause the motor to turn over as thought the battery was dead?

Answer
NO it would NOT.

I would remove the starter and the battery and have them both tested at any auto parts store that can test them , then I would replace BOTH the POSITIVE and NEGATIVE battery cables as they have a tendency to start to corrode and discolor the wire under the insulation which will cause a severe voltage drop when trying to pass a heavy electrical current thru them.
