Chevrolet: car wont start., chevy lumina, neutral safety switch

Question
I have a '92 Chevy Lumina, when I try to start it nothing happens. The lights and all accessories come on, but it doesn't even try to crank. I've had different advice to the problem, including ( the starter, the battery , and the starter solenoid). What's your advice I need an expert opinion. Please help I'm at wits end.            Thanks so much!!!

Answer
It could be any of the things that you listed but you need to do a little diagnosis to find out which one s the problem.
First make sure that the battery is fully charged or if it is over 5 years old replace it. Make sure that the battery cables are clean and tight. Now using a test light, hook the wire on the test light to a GOOD ground and touch the other end to the small purple wire on the starter solenoid. Have someone try to start the car. The test light should light up when the key is turned to the start position. If it does, you need to replace the starter and solenoid. If it does not light, you have a problem with the neutral safety switch, ignition switch, or the wireing in between.
