Dodge: Transmission Clutch Going Out?, scotch brite, oe supplier

Are there any warning signs that a clutch is about to fail?  When releasing the clutch in first gear from a stop (on my 2000 Dodge Dakota 5-speed manual, 6-cyl, 125K miles, light towing only) it seems to slip for about a second (making for a jerky start) before holding tight.  Is it time to get it changed (or something adjusted)?

HEY STEVE,THERE IS NO ADJUSTMENT THAT WILL MAKE YOUR CHATTER GO AWAY AS THIS SETUP IS HYDRAULIC AND NEEDS NO ADJUSTMENT.SOMETIMES THERE IS A LITTLE ADJUSTMENT IN THE PEDAL AT THE SLAVE CYLINDER. 125,000 ON A CLUTCH,YOUR THE MASTER! IF EVERYBODY GOT THAT WE WOULDN'T MAKE ANY MONEY. IF YOU DO IT NOW YOU CAN SAVE THE FLYWHEEL FROM GETTING TORN UP. BECAUSE I OWN AND WORK A TRANS SHOP LET ME GIVE YOU A LITTLE ADVICE? WHOM EVER YOU PICK TO DO IT,PREFERABLY A TRANS SHOP,MAKE SURE THEY USE ONLY NEW PARTS BY AN OE SUPPLIER. LUKE,VALEO,DAKIN,SACHS.THESE ARE THE BEST AND YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR WHEN CHOOSING A CLUTCH. NEXT,THEY WILL WANT TO SURFACE YOUR FLYWHEEL? IF IT IS JUST GLAZED TELL THEM YOU JUST WANT THEM TO CLEAN IT WITH A SCOTCH BRITE DISC ON A SMALL GRINDER. THE THICKER YOU LEAVE THE FLYWHEEL THE LESS IT WILL FLEX,OR HEAT UP(BIGGER IS BETTER).IF IT IS GROOVED AT ALL THEN YOU HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO THEN HAVE IT TURNED. THE PROBLEM IS THE MACHINES SOME OF THESE SHOPS HAVE ARE WORN OUT AND CUT TO MUCH OFF CAUSING THE FLYWHEEL TO FLEX AND OVER HEAT,RUINING YOUR NEW CLUTCH.IF IT DOES NOT NEED IT TELL THEM JUST TO CLEAN IT. I HAVE INSTALLED OVER 600 CLUTCHES USING THIS THEORY AND HAVE NEVER MADE THE WRONG DECISION.
