Dodge: starting problem 95 dodge dakota, broken teeth, dodge dakota

Question
I have 95 dodge dakota 3.9 V6.It cranks fine but takes 5 or 6 attempts to catch. i took starter off had it checked, was ok  had battery checked it was ok so i was told it was ignition switch. Didnt solve my problem either. Had alternater checked its ok. I hear a clicking noise after turning key back and forth all lights light up when turning key back and forth after several attempts it cranks i hope this makes any sense. Im the original owner so no one has ever worked on ive only replaced plugs wires and distributor cap. Is there any advice or help u can give me thanks.

Answer
Kevin,
If the starter checked out fine,it could be a problem with the flywheel(flexplate) such as broken teeth.Or solenoid if you hear a clicking noise. Also make sure all the wires to the starter are tight. And double check the battery connections, sometimes this can be a problem when a good tight connection isn't made.
