Ford: 1994 Ford F-150, spark plug wires, ford f 150

Question
My truck ran fine and out of the blue one day I was driving it started getting hot but only on the bottom of the engine, the catalatic converter was glowing red. Also all power was robbed of it, and the strangest thing I have ever seen is that no matter where I put the spark plug wires on the distributor it still fires up even when its completely out of the firing order. I don't think the coolant is being ran through at all. I know it's difficult to tell without looking at it or hooking it up to the computer but would you have any idea where I could start.

It has the 302 engine, 2wd, only about 135,000 miles

Answer
is the water circulating through the engine, the way you can find out is remove one of the heater hose start the engine and see if the water comes out at a steady flow.if not the water pump is your problem. as far as the cats getting red hot you have to ck for a lean problem vacuum leak, low fuel pressure  clog fuel filter.
