Ford: engine replacement, engine wiring harness, vacuum lines

Question
i am replacing the the engine in my 1997 f 150 with an engine from a 2001 there both 4.2 v6 i have swaped the engine wiring harness to accommodate the imrc as well as the vacuum lines and the imrc control motors.can i use the knock sensor from the 2001 which bolted to the back of the head instead of the side of the block as on the 1997. also the fuel injector plugs are different on the 01 and the 97 as are the injectors since i need the 97 wiring harness any ideas on the injector plug situation it doesn't appear i can swap the injectors.

Answer
Hello,

Well the logic and wire colours for the injectors are identical for early 97, late 97 and 2001 4.2's

97 trucks use a low fuel pressure than the 2001, so i would recommend using the 97 injectors.  if they don't directly swap, you may need to change intake manifold, or you can swap the injector plugs and see if how thew truck responds.
