Ford: Fuel problem...I believe., inertia switch, psi pressure

Question
1988 Ford F250 7.5ltr 460hp Automatic Transmission 2WD

I was just driving around and the truck started to "starve for fuel" (wanting to stall but still running) for like 1.5 minutes. Then stalled out.

I pulled one plug from both sides of the V8, ground them out and had spark while turning over. Replaced the Distributor cap and bought a gauge to check fuel pressure. Fuel pressure on the fuel rail is 40 psi. (Manual states  35-45 is needed with engine off). I thought maybe it had jumped timing (motor has 156,000 miles on it) put Cylinder 1 @ TDC and the rotor is close to #1 wire on distributor so I tore it down and the chain was a little loose. I replaced the gears and chain and put it back together. Still won't start.

Truck has enough fuel pressure but no gas in the cylinder. Inertia switch is fine. I can hear the fuel pump charge the system, and the fuel rail gets gas with 40 psi pressure, but the truck won't turn over. I just replaced the timing chain and the timing never jumped.

Is there some kind of switch/relay/fuse I'm missing? I believe it's something from the fuel rail to the fuel injectors. I sprayed carb cleaner in the intake, but nothing.

Please help!

Answer
hey there Richard. you might want to see if you have pulse at the injectors. use a noid light for this and make sure the light flashes real bright. please chachk all fusues and make sure there all good. if you have fuel pressure and spark then really it should run, cough, sputter or something. make sure that it is gasoline in the fuel system as well. gas engines are hard starting on diesel fuel. any more questions let me know

Thanks

Jim
