Ford: Transmission trouble in a 1994 Taurus, ford taurus, 1994 ford taurus

I have a 1994 Ford Taurus with a 3.0 litre V6 with a 4 speed automatic transmission.  When I come to a stop the transmission acts as if I have put it in neutral,even though I haven't. I can rev it up a little and then it will go back into drive and all seems well. Sometimes I have to go to park then to reverse and then to drive and it will finally start pulling. It doesn't do it when it's cold only after I've driven it a while. Once I'm going it shifts and acts perfectly fine, no slippage or anything to suggest there's a problem. It is full of transmission fluid and no, the filter isn't dirty. The fluid doesn't smell burnt and I feel no metal filings on the dip stick.I'm totally confused, can you help? Thanks, Dale!

Dale sorry to say you are going have to do a trans pressure test. this will let you know if you are haveing a ele. problem or a internal problem.now if you can rent a pressure guage we can do the test together.do you have a ck eng. light on?  let me know
