Ford: Ford GT project, ford motor co, valve v8 engine

Question
I read on the website that they are going through with the Ford GT project... but it only has the gt40 concept specs... Do you have an idea of what the actual car will represent? like as in engine size, HP, torque... cylinders.. how many liters... etc. Thanks

Answer
Hey Joe, I appreciate your question.  The actual Ford GT that is coming out in 04 is or should be virtually the same as the original GT40 concept that was revealed a year ago. The car as far as I know and as far as Ford has released information wise will still contain a supercharged intercooled 5.4L DOHC 32 valve V8 engine.  The 5.4L engine that the Ford Motor Co. has is a 330.   The engine will produce 500 horsepower at 5,250 RPMs and 500 ft. lbs of torque at 3250 RPMs.  The car will be a mid-engine with a 6-speed tranny.  I would expect this car to do 0-60 in sub 4s with a round figure of 3.8 or so.  The top speed of course would be limited, but I assume without an electronically limited speed system the car could easily approach speeds of 230+.  Now these specs. are for the concept however Ford will not make any drastic changes this late in the production of the GT considering they are already most likely hand building them as we speak.  Ford tested V12s, V10s, and every other engine you can think of with this GT and in the final show down it was the 5.4 that proved to be the best.  These are the only stats so far for the new GT and I assure you Ford is satisfied and has it right or they wouldn't be bragging about it and having it on every worthy car magazine on the stands if they weren't planning on using what it has in it.  I've heard that there is already a long waiting list concerning the GT so if you are interested you had better jump on it because this will be one of the finest cars in the next decade or two to come.  I hope I was of some assistance to you, and if I thank you again for your question.  Please feel free to rate me and let me know how I did.  Have a good day.
