Honda: Honda CRV 1997 Power Locks Issue, fuses, a/c condenser

Question
QUESTION: Hello,

I could use your advice about an issue I am having with the power locks on our Honda CRV 1997. I've checked the fuses and they are intact but the doors(power locks) still do not fuction. The driver side door opens with the key but the remaining 3 doors do not open when I push the button on the driver side door. What can I do to find out what is causing the doors not to function? I appreciate any advice you can offer me.
Best regards,
Billy

ANSWER:  The first thing to check is for voltage at the driver's door lock actuator. This part is near the driver's door latch, behind the door panel. It is very common for the door lock actuators to fail. If the actuator is NOT getting voltage I'd suspect a break in the wiring where the door is hinged. This would be much less common on a CR-V than a Civic, but I have seen it before.

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: Thank-you for the advice and I will give it go. Just some follow-up questions if I may. 1st off,on a 97 Honda CRV,how can I remove the inside door panal on the drivers side. I tried this before for another matter and I could not do it. I do not have a detailed manual other then the one provided with the car so would you recommend I purchase one or can you walk me through it. 2nd,if it turns out to be the actuator wiring, is this something I can correct myself or do I need a professional to do it? Again, thank-you for the advice and just one last question. While checking the fuses,I pulled out the fuse titled condenser fan relay and it slipped from my grip and fell somewhere where I cannot find it. I've tried to find a replacement at a local auto store but could not find one. 1st off,is it something that needs to be replaced ASAP or can I wait a few days and pick one up from a dealer? My fear is since the car is a 97,it might be hard to find. Any thoughts? I apologize for all the questions and I thank-you for taking the time to assit me.

Best regards,
Billy

Answer
The fuse for the condenser fan needs to be replaced ASAP. The car is 12 years old , so I don't want to risk an overheating issue. DO NOT RUN THE A/C until you replace this fuse. If you look in the underdash panel there should be a section marked "spare". Use the 20amp fuse from there.
You should be able to find the mini fuse at Walmart, AutoZone, etc.
The door panel on you car is one of the simpler Honda panels to remove. Follow this link http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/auto/jsp/mws/prddisplay.jsp?inputstate=5&cat you maybe have missed screws marked 11 in the armrest or 20 behind the speaker grille. If you find any broken wires in the door harness, I'd have to recommend an experienced technician repair that for you.
