Question
About 2 weeks ago my driver's side window slipped of the track. It only goes up half way and then stops. I took it to the dealer who of course told me my warranty was up. I've tried to remove the inner panel so I can assess what's up, but when trying to remove all the screws (I.E. inner door opener, screws to the far right, under the arm rest and at the bottom of the door) However it still seems to be attached to something. Is there some sort of schematic or instructions I can obtain to get this fixed? I don't have a lot of money right now, so if I can do this myself, great!

Answer
Hi Ed, actually you CAN do it yourself. If you still have the Vehicle Owners Manual then it tells you in there how to access the inside the door panel. The window is jammed in its track mechanism or the regulator is broken. There's a very good bet you'll be able to figure out what's wrong just by removing the door panel and looking into the door cavity at the window mechanism. To open the door panel:
1.    Remove all the screws holding panel in place, there should be 5 in total:

Two near the hinge,

Two in the door handle,

One on the door opening mechanism.

2.    There a series of clips holding the panel in place, carefully pull the door panel away from the door frame and these clips should pop out.

3.    Unscrew the knob which you push down to lock the door so that it is possible to lift the door panel up enough to remove the rubber seal         from its runners.

4.    Remove the window winder, it is held on by a clip that clamps the handle onto the winding spindle. To undo this clip, get a flat head screw driver, slide it down between the winder and the door panel, turn the winder in either direction, this motion will catch the clip and pop it off, allowing the handle to be pulled off.

5.    Free the panel from the opening mechanism. To do this, pull the opening handle away from the door frame, where you will find two teeth holding it in place. To release these, slide the handle towards the front of the car. Now, turn the panel through 90 degrees so that the opening mechanism can be pushed through the hole in the panel.
