Mercedes: alternator, holly holly, internal voltage

Hey there,
    i wrote in asking about what type of battery charger to use. Thanks for the reply.  What I am wondering is:  can i wire the alternator wires directly to the battery until i get a new alternator cord plug?  Will this solve the problem in the meantime?  If so, could you possibly guide me as to how to go about doing this? Will it be easy to reverse back after i pick up a cord plug from the pull a part?  Thanx for your time...

Because I cannot see what is missing and what the original configuration was on you car, I cannot make a recommendation about wiring the alternator.
Some alternators have an internal voltage regulator and some have an external regulator.
An incorrect connection could fry the alternator or cause burn wires off the car.
