Mercedes: 2000 Mercedes CL 500 fuse legend, trickle charger, overvoltage relay

Question
Hi. I have a 2000 CL 500 with a flat battery, %26 I cant get in the boot where the battery is!

The AA put enough power into the system under the hood to power the windows (no small amount of current) and that didnt help with the boot release system. The boot release button has a light in it, which is not working, leading me to believe the boot release solenoid is on its own fuse / relay

The problem is, although I have access to the fuse banks, the legend (fuse chart) is in the boot!

I cant open the boot mechanically, as the key turns the barrel but at no position is there resistance behind the button to open mechanically (although I can hear the microswitch)

Also, apparently, the old trick of removing the numerplate lamp cover and bulb to fish out the cable wont work with this model!

If you have access to a 2000 merc CL fuse legend/chart, at least I could see if the boot release solenoid is indeed on its own fuse, and check to see if that blown

Apparently, there is no 'remote battery access posts' under the hood on these cars. Is there a good reason why the old 'power the battery via the cig lighter' trick wont work with this car?

I am SO obliged for any help at all with this challenge, which has so far stumpred all experts!

Thanks

I would try and get the battery charged through the cigarette lighter socket. You need a trickle charger and allow it to bring the battery up over several hours. Quick charge with high amperage could burn the wiring system.

If this vehicle has a security system, it my be causing your problem with the locks. I hope that the high amperage did not kill the switche latch. This model may also have a overvoltage relay. If the fuse on that relay burned that it would not allow some of the other circuits to work.

I do not have the fuse schematics, but located this URL for getting the trunk open. I hope this helps.
Good Luck
