Mercedes: 84 Merz SD keys, jumper cables, mercedes dealer

1984 Mercedes SD. Good daily driver not a show car. I have only one key. "dumb, I know" I got my jumper cables out of the trunk and walked to the front. A friend closed the trunk. Got any good suggestions? If I drill out the tumbler can I get in and can I then order a new matching tumbler?

Drilling the tumbler is not a good idea, as you run the risk of damaging the lock mechanism.
I suggest that you contact the Mercedes dealer for a replacement key. You will need to have the VIN number, should be visible through the windshield, and a copy of the title and a photo id probably. Ask them what they require for ID.
The will order a replacement and the person on the title will need to pick up the Key personally. I replaced the key for our 420sel and it was about $50.00.
Good thing it is not a new model I think they are about $400.00. Digital encoding you know:-))
