Mercedes: Mercedes Benz 75 450SLC hood, assembly drawings, mercedes benz

Inherited a beautiful 75 slc from a relative; have the manual of assembly drawings, but no owner's manual.  Need to replace battery, but don't have a clue about how to open the hood! Looked all over the car, can't find the latch or anything. Please help

Patty,
Take a flashlight and sign under the dash along the left kick panel. There may be a leaver about 1/2 thick arc shaped with a cable attached.
That is the position on my 1986 450sel.
If you have no luck after extensive searching under the driver side dash.
Take a flash light and shine through the grill below the shield on the driver side. You should be able to see the latch cable attached. If so, you may be able to fashion a small hook and slide it through the grill to capture the release arm.
