Mercedes: Vapor lock on 72 450SL EFI, fuel tubes, vapor lock

Question
There are a lot of posts on this problem and I have not been able to sort out the best solution. Recently moved from cooler CA to hot FL where there seems to be more alcohol in gas. Problem existed there, but not too frequently. Engine in good tune, runs very well and starts quickly when cold. When trying to start hot, engine is hard to start and runs very rough for a few seconds and finally smooth out.
Please provide me a list of suggestions in the order that I should try. Thanks in advance.

Answer
Bob,
Get some Techron fuel treatment and try that. It should help clean you injectors. You may have some weep of the injector that cause a rich condition in the cylinders and hard starting problems.
With the increase of alcohol vapor lock is an increasing problem in hot climates. Or,when the alcohol boils the gas keeps fuel from being delivered to the injector instantly.
If this vehicle has a mechanical fuel pump?? you may improve the performance with an in line electrical pump.
Back in the time when heat buildup created vapor in the metal lines, I have see people stop it by placing clothes pins, yes wooden close pins on the fuel tubes.
This dissipates the heat and helps stop the alcohol from boiling in the line.
Good Luck,
Let us know how things turn out.
